Bog hiking

To diversify your leisure in Belarus you might be happy to spend a couple of days hiking through the most picturesque nature areas.

How about the walk literally through the bogs on a bog ski? Or the ride on a marsh buggy? Sounds unusual?

So as something very special we offer you to get inspired and have a real fun exploring the high bogs and lakes.

Additionally, from August to October you will be offered to watch the season migration of the flocks of cranes. (With specialized equipment) or watch the Blackcock birds in April-May.

Olmanskie swamp — Europe’s largest complex of upland, transitional and lowland bogs, preserved to this day in its natural state.

The fauna of swamps represented 151 species of birds, 25 of them listed in the Red Book of Belarus.

Olmanskie swamp ensure the existence of a significant part (10-20%) of the Belarusian population of Great Grey Owl nests here and ordinary capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus), which numbered in Polesie extremely small.

The reserve has 26 species of mammals, 3 of which are listed in the Red Book of Belarus. Until recently, there was still the European mink (Mustela lutreola) — view, located in Europe, globally threatened. Floodplain Stviga and Leo rivers support the existence of one of the largest populations of otters (Lutra lutra).

The reserve identified 687 plant species, 12 of which are listed in the Red Book of Belarus.

The National Park of “Belovezhskaya Pushcha” and Berezinsky biosphere reserve are also great places for your walking excursion where you will get a chance to see the biggest European mammals: elk, bison, bear, wolf and lynx and other rare animals and birds.

The National Parks “Pripyatski”, “Narochansky”, Braslav Lakes National Park will certainly touch your heart with their clear beauty, truly untouched wild nature and biodiversity of birds, animals and plants.
